Spelling and wording

This chapter refers to the spelling of text that is visible in the web client. For the spelling and wording of ADITO models and code elements, to be followed by ADITO developers, please refer to the respective chapters in the ADITO Information Document AID 001 Coding Styles.

Generally, the spelling and wording to be used in the ADITO web client should follow The Chicago Manual of Style.

Capitalization

According to The Chicago Manual of Style, the following capitalization rules should be applied: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Title_case#Chicago_Manual_of_Style

The above rules apply for titles, subtitles, and further expressions similar to titles - e.g., Context names, button descriptions, drawer/section titles, lables of toggles, etc.

For text that are normal sentences (e.g., error messages), the English "Sentence case" applies. This means that, in general, the first word of a sentence is capitalized, while all further words are written in lower case (with the usual exceptions, e.g., for names of persons or products, which are also capitalized).

Singular/Plural

Singular is to be used for

  • the title of a menu group visible in the Global Menu

  • the title of an Entity, whose corresponding Context is subordinated to a menu group in the Global Menu

  • TODO wo noch ???

Plural is to be used for

  • the title of all tabs included in the "Details" area of a MainView

  • TODO wo noch ???

Other conventions

An Action title’s text must be formulated in infinitive ("Write E-Mail", "Copy ticket", etc.).
